How to Apply
ELIGIBLE INSTITUTIONS Candidates for the USDA Terra Preta Program must be faculty or staff of a 1994 Land-Grant Institution (Tribal College and Universities). REQUIREMENTS To be considered for the USDA Terra Preta Fellowship Program, you must submit your application and supporting documents online by visiting www.usdahsifellows.org. The required information includes:
- Fellowship Application:Register for a profile and then complete and submit all sections of the online application.
- Essay: Submit a 500-800 word essay describing your interest in the USDA and how you envision the fellowship will impact you, your university's program and your work with your institution and its community. Finally describe how you plan to share information acquired during your fellowship with colleagues, students and other interested individuals.
- Resume: Please upload a one to two page resume including education and professional accomplishments
- Letter of Recommendation: Please provide the contact information for your someone at your institution who can attest to your professional abilities (Chair, Department Head, Dean, etc.) The recommender should be someone who currently supervises you. We will contact them by e-mail, requesting that they complete an online recommendation which should include a description of your work with 1994 Land-Grant students or the local, surrounding 1994 Land-Grant community.
- Statement of Support: Please provide the contact information for your Institution's President. We will contact them by e-mail, requesting that they complete an online Statement of Institutional Support declaring their commitment to pay salary and benefits during this program.
